Orbtial Christmas Ball

It’s back! Orbital’s highlight of the year – the Christmas Ball.

On Thursday the 8th of December come to Bristol Grammar School in your smartest suit or fanciest dress to celebrate the Christmas season with Orbital. We will have:

A Champagne reception.
Jazz band.
A photo booth.
Gambling tables.
A three course meal with all the trimmings.
A DJ afterwards.
Free entry and drinks in a local nightclub afterwards.

Doors will open at 7.30pm – where the Champagne reception will be waiting and the meal itself will be served at 8.00pm. We will be in Bristol Grammar School until 1.00am and then go to an as yet undisclosed local nightclub – where all ticket holders will get free entry and free drinks.

Tickets will be sold for £25 on this website: so watch this space keenly for when they come online.

Welcome Meetings

We will be hosting two welcome meetings for you to meet the committee, buy tickets for events and ask any questions that have been troubling you (or your parents!)

Dates: Saturday 1st October and Sunday 2nd October.
Time: 4:30pm (on both days)

ORBITAL EVENTS…
Largest budget and more deals than any other society

Every year Orbital has amazing deals with the main nightclubs and promoters in Bristol. Last year we were Bed @ Bunker’s favourite society and continued our close relationship with VIP Bristol.

The Scarlet themed Christmas Ball was a sell-out success and was heavily subsidised from £45pp to only £25pp…the cheapest ball ticket in Bristol (even cheaper than the rubish ones that didn’t include a meal like ours!)

This year’s committee are on it and have already organised 2 weeks of awesome Freshers events ranging from week-in week-out venue Bunker to the famous dance venue, Motion! The Christmas Ball is already in the i-dotting and t-crossing stage to make sure we can once again offer you the best price possible!

Hold on to your wristbands throughout the whole year they will be getting you awesome money saving and queue jumping deals every night of the year!

Sport Intro

ORBITAL SPORT…
THE PERFECT MIX BETWEEN SOCIAL AND COMPETITIVE SPORT

We enter loads of successful teams into the University’s intramural sport leagues, each with an experienced captain who played last year.

The sport section is organised by our two sport secretaries, Hamish Smithers and Matt Howat.

Fixtures are mainly on sundays when teams all meet before the match and any travel expenses are paid for by orbital. Monthly sports social will be organised with great deals on nights out and drinks.

If you are interested in Orbital Sport, we are running a free Sports Day in Freshers Week where you can try out sports and take part in a variety of games with Captains, Reps and other Freshers.

Have a look through the different sports teams we have below, see what the captains look like and find out when they train and play. Each team also has a facebook group you can join (listed on the right –> )

One of the best parts of being in Orbital is that your wristband will get you deals in a variety of clubs, bars and events throughout the year. We will send messages through the 11/12 facebook group regarding one off deals, but you can find our weekly deals on this page when we have confirmed them all!

Football

Orbital Football had a successful season last year.
A good mix of first and second years meant that there were enough players for two teams.

The A team played in the top league of the university intramural league, playing teams such as the university V’s, managing to finish mid-table. The team got stronger as the season went on and managed to put together a great cup run in the end of season cup, reaching the final and narrowly losing after a penalty shootout.

Matches take place on Wednesday afternoons on the downs, with training once a week on Sundays.

This year’s captain is Jayesh Mistry.
